Belteshazzar answered and saide, My lord, the dreame be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.

Then Daniel, whose name was Beltshatzar, was perplexed for a time, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke, and said, Beltshatzar, let not the chalom (dream), or the pesher (interpretation, explanation) thereof, trouble thee. Beltshatzar answered and said, Mari (my master), if only the chalom (dream) concerned them that hate thee, and the pesher (interpretation, explanation) thereof thine enemies.

Alors Daniel, dont le nom est Belteshatsar, fut stupéfié pour une heure environ, et ses pensées le troublèrent. Le roi prit la parole et dit : Belteshatsar, que le songe et son interprétation ne te troublent pas. Belteshatsar répondit et dit : Mon seigneur ! que le songe soit pour ceux qui te haïssent, et son interprétation pour tes ennemis.
Que son cœur d'homme soit changé, et qu'un cœur de bête lui soit donné, et que sept temps passent sur lui.

Sein menschliches Herz werde verwandelt und das Herz eines Tieres ihm gegeben; und sieben Zeiten sollen über ihm vergehen.

Darauf war Daniel, genannt Beltsazar, eine Weile starr vor Entsetzen, und seine Gedanken machten ihn bestürzt. Der König aber hob an und sprach: Beltsazar! Laß dich durch den Traum und seine Deutung nicht erschrecken! Beltsazar antwortete und sprach: O Herr! Der Traum gelte denen, die dich hassen, und, was er bedeutet, deinen Feinden!
(04-13) Sein Herz soll verändert werden, daß es kein menschliches mehr sei, und es soll ihm ein tierisches Herz gegeben werden, und sieben Zeiten sollen darüber vergehen.

לבבה מן אנושא ישנון ולבב חיוה יתיהב לה ושבעה עדנין יחלפון עלוהי׃

Respondens autem rex, ait: Baltassar, somnium et interpretatio ejus non conturbent te. Respondit Baltassar, et dixit: Domine mi, somnium his, qui te oderunt, et interpretatio ejus hostibus tuis sit.
