1. the good which man obtains τυγχάνει); by the favour of the gods, good fortune, luck, success , (Theognis Elegiacus), etc.; σὺν τύχῃ (Sophocles Tragicus); θείᾳ τύχῃ, Lat. divinitus , (Herdotus Historicus), etc.:—; hence Τύχη was deified, like Lat. Fortuna , Τύχη Σώτειρα (Pindar); T. Σωτήρ (Aeschulus Tragicus) 2. generally, fortune, chance , good or bad, in singular and plural , (Herdotus Historicus), attic 3. rarely of positive ill fortune , ἢν χρήσωνται τύχῃ, i. e. if they are killed, (Euripides); τύχῃ by ill-luck , (Antipho Orator) 4. especially, ἀγαθὴ τ.
