And they said, The man asked very closely after us, and after our kindred, saying, Is your father yet alive? have ye a brother? And we told him according to the tenor of these words. Could we at all know that he would say, Bring your brother down?

Zij antwoordden: Die man vroeg ons uitdrukkelijk naar ons en onze familie. Hij zeide: Leeft uw vader nog; hebt gij nog een anderen broer? Alleen op die vragen hebben we hem geantwoord. Konden we dan weten, dat hij zou zeggen: brengt uw broer hier?

فَقَالُوا: «إِنَّ ٱلرَّجُلَ قَدْ سَأَلَ عَنَّا وَعَنْ عَشِيرَتِنَا، قَائِلًا: هَلْ أَبُوكُمْ حَيٌّ بَعْدُ؟ هَلْ لَكُمْ أَخٌ؟ فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ بِحَسَبِ هَذَا ٱلْكَلَامِ. هَلْ كُنَّا نَعْلَمُ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ: ٱنْزِلُوا بِأَخِيكُمْ؟».
گفتند: «آن مرد احوال ما و خویشاوندان ما را به دقت پرسیده، گفت: “آیا پدر شما هنوز زنده است، وبرادر دیگر دارید؟” و او را بدین مضمون اطلاع دادیم، و چه میدانستیم که خواهد گفت: “برادرخود را نزد من آرید.”»
