وَسَقَطَ إِلَى دَاوُدَ بَعْضٌ مِنْ مَنَسَّى حِينَ جَاءَ مَعَ ٱلْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ ضِدَّ شَاوُلَ لِلْقِتَالِ وَلَمْ يُسَاعِدُوهُمْ، لِأَنَّ أَقْطَابَ ٱلْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ أَرْسَلُوهُ بِمَشُورَةٍ قَائِلِينَ: «إِنَّمَا بِرُؤُوسِنَا يَسْقُطُ إِلَى سَيِّدِهِ شَاوُلَ».

Cependant, ils ne leur prêtèrent pas main-forte, car les chefs des Philistins, après s’être concertés, renvoyèrent David en disant : « Il se ralliera à son maître Saül, et cela nous coûtera la tête. »
Und von Manasse liefen einige zu David über, als er mit den Philistern wider Saul in den Streit zog; aber sie halfen ihnen nicht; denn nachdem sie Rat gehalten hatten, entließen ihn die Fürsten der Philister, indem sie sprachen: Auf Gefahr unserer Köpfe könnte er zu seinem Herrn Saul überlaufen!
Und von Manasse fielen zu David, da er kam mit den Philistern wider Saul zum Streit und half ihnen nicht. Denn die Fürsten der Philister ließen ihn mit Bedacht von sich und sprachen: Wenn er zu seinem Herrn Saul fiele, so möchte es uns unsern Hals kosten.
Von Manasse gingen zu David über, als er mit den Philistern zum Kampfe gegen Saul auszog, - doch halfen sie ihnen in Wahrheit nicht; denn die Fürsten der Philister schickten ihn, nachdem sie Rat gepflogen, hinweg, indem sie sprachen: er könnte mit Darangabe unserer Köpfe zu Saul, seinem Herrn, übergegen.

Alcuni ancora di Manasse andarono ad arrendersi a Davide, quando egli venne co' Filistei, per combattere contro a Saulle.
