The existence of a dynasty tracing itself to David is attested within roughly a century and a half of the period; the scale of the kingdom described in Samuel and Kings remains debated.

Attestation. The Tel Dan Stele, discovered 1993-94, an Aramaic victory inscription referring to the "House of David".
