Oder sind etwa die Bäume des Feldes Menschen, daß auch sie der Belagerung von dir unterworfen werden sollten?
Wenn du lange Zeit vor einer Stadt liegen mußt, wider die du streitest, um sie einzunehmen, so sollst du ihre Bäume nicht verderben, indem du die Axt daran legst; denn du kannst davon essen, darum sollst du sie nicht abhauen. Quando tu terrai l'assedio a una città lungo tempo, combattendola per pigliarla, non guastar gli alberi di essa, avventando la scure contro a essi; perciocchè d'essi potrai mangiare, e però non tagliarli; perciocchè è forse l'albero della campagna un uomo, per entrar dentro alla fortezza, fuggendo d'innanzi a te?

Quando você sitiar uma cidade por muito tempo, fazendo guerra contra ela para tomá-la, você não destruirá as suas árvores brandindo um machado contra elas; pois você poderá comer delas. Você não as cortará, pois acaso a árvore do campo é um homem, para que seja sitiada por você?

כִּֽי־תָצ֣וּר אֶל־עִיר֩ יָמִ֨ים רַבִּ֜ים לְֽהִלָּחֵ֧ם עָלֶ֣יהָ לְתָפְשָׂ֗הּ לֹֽא־תַשְׁחִ֤ית אֶת־עֵצָהּ֙ לִנְדֹּ֤חַ עָלָיו֙ גַּרְזֶ֔ן כִּ֚י מִמֶּ֣נּוּ תֹאכֵ֔ל וְאֹת֖וֹ לֹ֣א תִכְרֹ֑ת כִּ֤י הָֽאָדָם֙ עֵ֣ץ הַשָּׂדֶ֔ה לָבֹ֥א מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ בַּמָּצֽוֹר׃
