ויקח יוחנן בן קרח וכל שרי החילים אשר אתו את כל שארית העם אשר השיב מאת ישמעאל בן נתניה מן המצפה אחר הכה את גדליה בן אחיקם גברים אנשי המלחמה ונשים וטף וסרסים אשר השיב מגבעון׃
فَأَخَذَ يُوحَانَانُ بْنُ قَارِيحَ وَكُلُّ رُؤَسَاءِ ٱلْجُيُوشِ ٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُ، كُلَّ بَقِيَّةِ ٱلشَّعْبِ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَرَدَّهُمْ مِنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ نَثَنْيَا مِنَ ٱلْمِصْفَاةِ، بَعْدَ قَتْلِ جَدَلْيَا بْنِ أَخِيقَامَ، رِجَالَ ٱلْحَرْبِ ٱلْمُقْتَدِرِينَ وَٱلنِّسَاءَ وَٱلْأَطْفَالَ وَٱلْخِصْيَانَ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْتَرَدَّهُمْ مِنْ جِبْعُونَ.
و یوحانان بن قاریح با همه سرداران لشکرکه همراهش بودند، تمامی بقیه قومی را که ازدست اسماعیل بن نتنیا از مصفه بعد از کشته شدن جدلیا ابن اخیقام خلاصی داده بود بگرفت، یعنی مردان دلیر جنگی و زنان و اطفال و خواجهسرایان را که ایشان را در جبعون خلاصی داده بود؛
