وَقَالَ دَاوُدُ فِي قَلْبِهِ: «إِنِّي سَأَهْلِكُ يَوْمًا بِيَدِ شَاوُلَ، فَلَا شَيْءَ خَيْرٌ لِي مِنْ أَنْ أُفْلِتَ إِلَى أَرْضِ ٱلْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ، فَيَيْأَسَ شَاوُلُ مِنِّي فَلَا يُفَتِّشَ عَلَيَّ بَعْدُ فِي جَمِيعِ تُخُومِ إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَأَنْجُوَ مِنْ يَدِهِ».

David reče u sebi: “Ipak ću jednoga dana poginuti od Šaulove ruke. Zato nema ništa bolje za me nego da se spasim u zemlju Filistejaca. Tada će Šaul odustati da me dalje traži po svim krajevima Izraelovim i izbavit ću se iz njegove ruke.”
Řekl pak David v srdci svém: Když tedyž sejdu od ruky Saulovy, nic mi lepšího není, než abych naprosto utekl do země Filistinské. I pustí o mně Saul, a nebude mne více hledati v žádných končinách Izraelských, a tak ujdu ruky jeho.
Men David sagde til sig selv: “Jeg falder dog en skønne Dag for Sauls Hånd. Jeg har ingen anden udvej end at søge Tilflugt i Filisternes Land; så opgiver Saul at søge efter mig nogetsteds i Israels Land, og jeg er uden for hans Rækkevidde!”
David nu zeide in zijn hart: Nu zal ik een der dagen door Sauls hand omkomen; mij is niet beter, dan dat ik haastelijk ontkome in het land der Filistijnen, opdat Saul van mij de hoop verlieze, om mij meer te zoeken in de ganse landpale van Israel; zo zal ik ontkomen uit zijn hand.
Maar David dacht bij zichzelf: Op een of andere dag val ik toch nog in handen van Saul. Er blijft voor mij dus niets anders over, dan dat ik de wijk neem naar het Filistijnenland; dan zal Saul het wel opgeven, nog langer heel Israël naar mij af te zoeken, en ben ik uit zijn greep gered.

David aber gedachte in seinem Herzen: Ich werde der Tage einen Saul in die Hände fallen; es ist mir nichts besser, denn daß ich entrinne in der Philister Land, daß Saul von mir ablasse, mich fürder zu suchen im ganzen Gebiet Israels; so werde ich seinen Händen entrinnen.
David aber sagte sich selbst: Nun werde ich eines Tages durch Sauls Hand hingerafft werden: es nützt mir nichts, als daß ich thatsächlich ins Philisterland entrinne; dann giebt Saul es auf, noch länger im ganzen Gebiet Israels auf mich zu fahnden, und ich bin aus seinen Händen entronnen.
David aber sprach zu seinem Herzen: Ich werde doch eines Tages Saul in die Hände fallen! Es ist nichts besser für mich, als daß ich in der Philister Land entrinne, so wird Saul davon ablassen, mich forthin in allen Landmarken Israels zu suchen, [und] so werde ich seiner Hand entrinnen.

OR Davide disse fra sè stesso: Ecco, un giorno io perirò per le mani di Saulle; non vi è nulla di meglio per me, se non che io scampi affatto nel paese de' Filistei; talchè Saulle, se pur continua a cercarmi per tutte le contrade d'Israele, perda ogni speranza di me; così scamperò dalla sua mano.
Or Davide disse in cuor suo: “Un giorno o l’altro io perirò per le mani di Saul; non v’è nulla di meglio per me che rifugiarmi nel paese dei Filistei, in guisa che Saul, perduta ogni speranza, finisca di cercarmi per tutto il territorio d’Israele; così scamperò dalle sue mani”.

و داود در دل خود گفت: «الحال روزی بهدست شاول هلاک خواهم شد. چیزی برای من از این بهتر نیست که به زمین فلسطینیان فرار کنم، و شاول از جستجوی من درتمامی حدود اسرائیل مایوس شود. پس از دست او نجات خواهم یافت.»
David disse em seu coração: “Agora perecerei um dia pelas mãos de Saul. Não há nada melhor para mim do que escapar para a terra dos filisteus; e Saul desesperará de mim, para me procurar mais em todas as fronteiras de Israel”. Assim escaparei de sua mão”.
E disse Davi em seu coração: Ao fim serei morto algum dia pela mão de Saul: nada portanto me será melhor que fugir à terra dos filisteus, para que Saul se deixe de mim, e não me ande buscando mais por todos os termos de Israel, e assim me escaparei de suas mãos.

Și David a spus în inima lui: Acum voi pieri într-o zi de mâna lui Saul. Nu este nimic mai bun pentru mine decât să scap repede în țara filistenilor; și Saul va renunța să mă mai caute în vreun ținut al lui Israel; astfel voi scăpa din mâna lui.

Y DIJO David en su corazón: Al fin seré muerto algún día por la mano de Saúl: nada por tanto me será mejor que fugarme á la tierra de los Filisteos, para que Saúl se deje de mí, y no me ande buscando más por todos los términos de Israel, y así me escaparé de sus manos.

Đa-vít nói thầm nghĩ rằng: Chắc một ngày kia, ta sẽ chết bởi tay Sau-lơ. Ta chẳng làm chi hay hơn bằng trốn trong xứ Phi-li-tin, thì Sau-lơ sẽ chẳng còn kiếm ta trong cả địa phận Y-sơ-ra-ên nữa. Như vậy, ta sẽ thoát khỏi tay người.
וַיֹּ֤אמֶר דָּוִד֙ אֶל־לִבּ֔וֹ עַתָּ֛ה אֶסָּפֶ֥ה יוֹם־אֶחָ֖ד בְּיַד־שָׁא֑וּל אֵֽין־לִ֨י ט֜וֹב כִּ֣י הִמָּלֵ֥ט אִמָּלֵ֣ט ׀ אֶל־אֶ֣רֶץ פְּלִשְׁתִּ֗ים וְנוֹאַ֨שׁ מִמֶּ֤נִּי שָׁאוּל֙ לְבַקְשֵׁ֤נִי עוֹד֙ בְּכָל־גְּב֣וּל יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְנִמְלַטְתִּ֖י מִיָּדֽוֹ׃
