وَقَالُوا لِفِرْعَوْنَ: «جِئْنَا لِنَتَغَرَّبَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ، إِذْ لَيْسَ لِغَنَمِ عَبِيدِكَ مَرْعًى، لِأَنَّ ٱلْجُوعَ شَدِيدٌ فِي أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ. فَٱلْآنَ لِيَسْكُنْ عَبِيدُكَ فِي أَرْضِ جَاسَانَ».
ခါနာန်ပြည်တွင်အစာခေါင်းပါးခြင်းဘေး အလွန်ဆိုးရွားလျက်ရှိသဖြင့် သိုးနွားတို့ အတွက်စားကျက်မရှိပါ။ သို့ဖြစ်၍ကျွန်တော် မျိုးတို့သည်ဤပြည်တွင်နေထိုင်ရန်ရောက်လာ ကြပါသည်။ ကျွန်တော်မျိုးတို့အားဂေါရှင် အရပ်၌နေထိုင်ခွင့်ပေးတော်မူပါ'' ဟုလျှောက် ထားကြလေ၏။-
ခါနာန် ပြည် ၌ အလွန် အစာခေါင်းပါး ၍ သိုး နွား ကျက်စား ရာမ ရှိသောကြောင့် ၊ ကိုယ်တော် ကျွန် တို့သည် ပြည် တော်၌ တည်းခို ခြင်းငှါ လာ ကြပါ၏။ သို့ဖြစ်၍ ကိုယ်တော် ကျွန် တို့သည် ဂေါရှင် ပြည် ၌ နေ ရမည် အကြောင်းအခွင့်ပေးတော်မူပါဟူ၍၎င်း လျှောက် ကြ၏။

Voorts zeiden zij tot Farao: Wij zijn gekomen, om als vreemdelingen in dit land te wonen; want er is geen weide voor de schapen, die uw knechten hebben, dewijl de honger zwaar is in het land Kanaan; en nu, laat toch uw knechten in het land Gosen wonen!
En ze vervolgden tot Farao: We zijn gekomen, om de gastvrijheid van het land te genieten; want uw dienaars hadden geen weidegrond meer voor hun vee, daar de hongersnood het land Kanaän heeft geteisterd. Geef uw dienaren verlof, zich in het land Gósjen te vestigen.

Und sie sprachen zum Pharao: Wir sind hergekommen, um uns eine Zeitlang hier aufzuhalten, weil es an Weide gebrach für die Schafherden, die deinen Sklaven gehören; denn die Hungersnot lastet schwer auf dem Lande Kanaan. Möchten also deine Sklaven in der Provinz Gosen verweilen dürfen!
Und sie sprachen zum Pharao: Wir sind gekommen, um uns im Lande aufzuhalten; denn deine Knechte haben keine Weide für ihr Vieh, so hart beschwert die Hungersnot das Land Kanaan; und nun möchten deine Knechte gerne im Lande Gosen wohnen.

ויאמרו אל פרעה לגור בארץ באנו כי אין מרעה לצאן אשר לעבדיך כי כבד הרעב בארץ כנען ועתה ישבו נא עבדיך בארץ גשן׃
Poi dissero a Faraone: Noi siam venuti per dimorare in questo paese; perciocchè non vi è pastura per le gregge de' tuoi servitori nel paese di Canaan, conciossiachè la fame vi sia grave; deh! permetti ora che i tuoi servitori dimorino nella contrada di Gosen.
