  Deuteronomy's promise of a prophet like Moses is applied to Jesus in Acts.

  He carries the same name -- Yeshua -- and leads the people into the promised land where Moses could not. Hebrews turns on that rest being unfinished.

  The shepherd who becomes king, and the king to whom an everlasting throne is promised. The New Testament opens by calling Jesus son of David and closes by calling him David's root.

  The son carrying the wood for his own sacrifice is read as prefiguring the cross; Genesis itself does not draw the comparison, and the traditions differ in how much weight they place on it.
